Egypt Uncovered
Follow the lives of ancient Egyptians who endured in a world dominated by the fury of nature. Join us for a special presentation of part two of the Discovery Channel's five part series: Egypt Uncovered. Scientists have long believed that the pyramids were built as resurrection machines for fallen pharaohs. These structures allowed the pharaoh to ascend into the afterlife. Now, new discoveries in the Valley of the Kings point to more structures that were connected to the ancient pyramids. Remnants of temples, mortuaries, and other enclosures seem to point to an even more sophisticated belief system. A $2 suggested donation for Planeterra will be collected at the door.

Volunteer, Voluntour
Travel. Connect. Give Back. As a community of global travelers we seek meaningful connections with local people, often through travel and voluntourism. We hope to be immersed in local culture, traditions and everyday life – we crave our sense of place - and a chance to give back in a positive and lasting way. From helping protect endangered sea turtles in Costa Rica, to lending a hand at a pre-school in South Africa, you will be making a real difference in the lives of local people. Join us at the NYC Concept Store to learn about our voluntours in communities around the globe! A donation for Planterra will be collected at the door.

Exploring the Benefits of Family Travel – a Voyage of Discovery
In July, 2008, after more than 4-1/2 years of intense planning, Rainer Jenss, a Special Correspondent for National Geographic Traveler, sold his house, put the family’s possessions in storage and left his job to do something that many people dream of, but very few actually dare to carry out: travel around the world for an entire year without returning home. Together with his wife and two young sons, they dismissed their fears of an uncertain future and visited 28 different countries and experienced things most don’t have the opportunity to do in a lifetime.
If you are a travel enthusiast who is striving for more enriching and purposeful travel experiences, you won’t want to miss Rainer’s presentation. Rainer will offer valuable insights, inspiring photographs, expert advice and a myriad of ideas for planning your next adventure . . . with or without children.
